Little do the visiting crowds realise that they’re missing the area’s other real gem, Golbourne Road. At the north end of Portobellow Road, further than most tourists ever venture, this short street is where you’ll find those in the know on a Friday and Saturday, browsing the kerbside bric-a-brac stalls and hunting for interiors treasure at the various antique furniture shops. It is very much Notting Hill for locals, so do yourself a favour and join them. One tip: a lot of shops are open at weekends only, so check with them before you visit.
